For our Purchasing Department in Dendermonde, we are looking for a Commodity Manager.
What will you do at PSS?
The role of the Commodity Manager is developing and implementing the commodity strategy for packasing supplied in Europe ($2M spend). On top of this role, you will oversee sourcing for injection molding tools, which is in line with PSS business needs and supply chain optimization with adequate knowledge of the commodities, the market and competition.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the purchasing strategy for assigned European commodities and collaborate with global commodity teams to ensure alignment with the overall corporate strategy.
• Maintain and enhance the supplier base, ensuring adequate capacity, competitiveness, cost efficiency and consistent supplier performance across mass production and new product development.
• Oversee RFx processes, conduct negotiations and execute supplier selection in accordance with business case objectives and nomination criteria; negotiate cost and supply agreements for mass production to support PSS’s competitive position.
• Manage supplier relationships through structured performance reviews, follow-up actions and continuous improvement initiatives; implement corrective measures when performance deviations occur.
• Ensure supplier administration is accurately maintained and kept up to date in the company database.
• Assume responsibility for injection molding tools sourcing and collaborate closely with colleagues in China to ensure effective supplier engagement and successful project execution.
• Monitor industry trends relevant to the assigned commodity area.
• Identify, assess and proactively mitigate supplier-related risks.
What do you bring to PSS?
- Academic/Professional Qualification: Bachelor’s degree and above, Master’s degree is preferred.
- Expertise/Skills: 2 years experience and knowledge in sourcing within a global organization.
- Experience in the automotive sector or in consumer goods
- Language skills: excellent proficiency in English (oral & written)
- Characteristics: awareness, critical thinking, ethical/integrity, accountable teamwork, communication skills, negotiation skills, an open, curious mind, willingness to learn fast and milestone experience.
